Our Hexathlon has now been running for 20 years so we were surprised to discover that the word Hexathlon does not
seem to appear in many dictionaries! Pentathlon, Heptathlon and Decathlon are well known athletic events so it was logical for us to give our six discipline sport competition the title Hexathlon.
This is an Open Event and we extend an invitation to you to take part this year. The date is Saturday 23rd August, starting time is 10am and the competition lasts all day.
The disciplines are Miniten; Petanque; Table Tennis; Badminton; Swimming and Darts, but do not be put off if you are not too good at some or all of these or are not in the prime of life!
Although the Men's and Ladies events are scored separately the competition is run on a mixed doubles basis with a new draw being made for each sport so that you may be playing with a Miniten expert one minutes and a complete duff at Badminton later on in the day! Even non swimmers take part! it all adds to the fun and the unpredictability of the day and serves to give everyone a chance of winning. the disciplines are played as a knock-out but even the first round losers gain at least one point.
We also run a separate competition for Juniors.
The entry fee for the Hexathlon is free but there is a day visit fee of £5.00 per person which includes use of all the facilities excluding the Sauna which is £1.50 per person and the showers cost 20p each.
