Rules and Conventions of the Naturist Foundation

The pursuit of personal wellbeing and wellness through naturist recreational activities
Our Rules
Our rules are designed for the safety and comfort of all users of the grounds, facilities, and events at Brocken Hurst. We expect everyone to observe these rules and to show mutual respect to all others at Brocken Hurst whether they be staff, associate members or visitors. The general rules set out below are supplemented and should be read in conjunction with our policies relating to camping, photography/videography, internet use and use of the pool and sauna. These include safety matters and legal requirements and are made known to all concerned.
These rules, the level of fees, and all other conditions are designed to achieve the maximum possible public benefit. To make the best possible opportunities available to the widest possible section of the community at large. For recreation in a naturist environment by those using the facilities provided.
- To meet our objectives, we provide facilities for recreation under naturist conditions i.e. without clothing whenever weather and other circumstances permit. Those seeking to enjoy the facilities are expected to have these objectives in mind.
- The Trustees have total discretion to vary any rules, fees and conditions with the aims of our Governing Document (Constitution) in mind. Day to day organisation is undertaken by the Trustees with the help of volunteers and paid staff.
- The Naturist Foundation abides by a robust safeguarding policy. The Naturist Foundation is duty bound to protect everyone on site.
- Associate members and visitors’ rates of fees and other charges as agreed by the Trustees will be advised through various forms of media. All associate membership and site fees are to be paid in full by 1st March. Visitor fees are to be paid at the time of booking.
- Any person who has been convicted of any serious criminal orsexual offence will be prohibited from visiting the Naturist Foundation or attending any outside function organised by the Foundation.
- Inappropriate or bad behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Recreational drugs of any kind are not permitted on site.
- Piercings, jewellery and tattoos are fine as long as they have no sexual connotations.
- A bar is provided and operated in accordance with our Club Premise Licence. Only alcoholic drinks bought from the bar may be brought into or consumed in the ground’s central areas.
- Televisions, radios, music playing devices, musical instruments and any other form of media entertainment device, can only be used at a low volume level that does not impede the enjoyment by other users of the Foundation facilities.
- Residents are permitted to have pets on site with the approval by the Trustees. Assistance Dogs are
permitted at all times. - The use of roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, bicycles and scooters by children is permitted. They must be considerate of pedestrians and other road users at all times. Use of these are at the responsibility of the parent or guardian. The Naturist Foundation accepts no responsibility for accident or injury. Electric scooters are not permitted
- Adults may use bikes/mobility scooters to get to and from the central area but must be considerate of pedestrians, children and other road users.
- There is a 5mph speed limit for the safety of everyone on site. This applies to all forms of transport including (but not limited to) cars, motorcycles, bicycles and mobility scooters.
- Lockers and sunbed storage spaces can be hired on an annual basis (1st March to end of February) at a price determined by the Trustees. The Naturist Foundation assumes no responsibility for loss or damage of any property in any storage area whether locked or unlocked. If non-payment occurs in any given year, the Naturist Foundation has the right to remove and dispose of any items in storage.
- Children are the responsibility of their parent/guardian at all times. Children attending an evening function should do so under the supervision of their parent/guardian. Associate members who bring children whose parents are not members, including relatives, must supply the Office with a completed “Parental responsibility” form.
- Associate members of the Foundation who wish to bring family or friends to their site at Brocken Hurst may do so but these guests will be required to sign the visitors’ book, provide ID and contact details, and a fee will be payable for this visit if they wish to use the Foundation’s facilities and/or are staying overnight.
- The names, addresses and any other information relating to associate members/visitors held by the
Foundation are deemed to be confidential according to the Foundation’s Privacy policy. Access to this information is restricted to the Trustees and reception staff. - Access to the grounds is via the use of a key fob and is restricted to associate members only. All other persons should gain entry using the gate bell and telephonic gate release system. Residents, their family and close friends will be given an access code. Access should not be given to any one that is not displaying a current year sticker on their car. The gate should be closed and they should be asked to ring the gate bell for assistance.
- The interpretation of the rules and the entitlement of enjoyment of the charitable benefits afforded by the Naturist Foundation at Brocken Hurst shall rest with the Trustees in accordance with the Trust Deed.
- Unless alternative details are received in writing, by becoming an associate member of the Naturist
Foundation or booking a visit, you agree to being contacted by telephone, email or post for any matters relating to the Naturist Foundation. - Both associate members and visitors are prohibited from sleeping in their vehicles. Sleeping in vehicles in the car parks, including those designed for sleeping in, is prohibited as it contravenes the Foundation’s licence with Bromley council.
- Day visitors and associate day members are not permitted to use fire pits of any kind or personal BBQ’s. A communal BBQ is available and located by the pavilion – disposable BBQ’s only. Please supply your own or purchase on site.
Meadow Camping Rules
During your stay at the Naturist Foundation, you will be looked after by our meadow wardens. Should you need anything then please contact them on the number provided when you arrive. The rules below should be read in conjunction with the General Rules and Conventions of the Naturist Foundation.
- Meadow Camping Season. The camping meadow is open from 1st April (or Easter if earlier), to late October each year.
- Pitch care and maintenance. It is a camper’s responsibility to keep their allocated pitch neat and tidy during their stay.
- Positioning. The Naturist Foundation adheres to a strict 6 metre siting rule as set out by the local authority. There must be 6 metres between units – this does not include A frames and awnings. Motorhomes, caravans and cars must be parked across the meadow and not facing down.
- Hose pipes. Hose pipes are not permitted to be connected to our taps under any circumstances. Bromley Council have given us strict guidelines that must be followed to ensure our water taps are free from contamination. The blue pipes that you will see attached are regularly cleaned and sterilised as agreed with Bromley Council and should not be removed. Failure to follow this rule could result in The Foundation losing its licence. A dedicated tap is available behind the meadow shower block to fill motorhome onboard tanks. Please use the antibacterial spray before and
after using the tap. - Rubbish. Rubbish should be placed in the euro bins at the bottom of the meadow. A glass recycling bin and dry mixed recycling bin is also available. Please see notices for details of what can and cannot be recycled. The bin facility is for domestic rubbish only.
- Children. Children are the responsibility of their parent/guardian at all times. No child under the age of 18 can camp on their own overnight and should not be left in their tent/caravan unsupervised after dark
- Washing up. If you do not have your own washing up facilities you can wash up at the meadow block. The sinks are located outside on the back of the laundry room wall. Please do not wash up at the drinking water points.
- Chemical disposal. There are two disposal points for your sewage at the bottom of the meadow. Please ensure you leave the disposal point clean after use.
- Fire appliances. Fire pits of any type and disposable BBQ’s are not permitted on the camping meadow. BBQ’s can be used but must not be placed directly on the floor, alternatively you can use the communal BBQ near the pavilion – disposable BBQ’s only. Please supply your own or purchase on site. Children must be supervised at all times and never
allowed to use BBQs or any fire related equipment.
The Naturist Foundation Swimming Pool Policy
- Showers must be taken before entering the pool, particularly after using the sauna. The water for the shower used before entering the pool may become hot during sunny periods. It is a swimmer’s responsibility to check the water temperature before showering.
- Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by a person of 18 years or over at all times. A maximum of 3 children can be supervised by one adult.
- The Naturist Foundation has designed a swimming safety test for children aged 12 to 17. Once the test has been successfully completed, these children can swim together without adult supervision.
- Children aged 12 to 17 who have not passed the Foundation swimming safety test, must be accompanied by someone over 18.
- Under 18’s are not permitted to swim alone at any time.
- Adults who use the pool alone do so at their own risk.
- No clothing, swimwear or other equipment including mobile phones is allowed within the pool area unless being used for a swimming/lifeguarding award. All items should be left in the changing area.
- All forms of rough play are prohibited.
- No diving at the shallow end and where water depth is less than 1.5m.
- Children who are not toilet trained or under 2 years of age must wear swim nappies.
- Anybody suffering from diarrhoea or unusually loose bowel movements, should not use the pool for at least 7 days after symptoms have cleared.
- People should not enter the pool under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
- Inflatables can only be used at organised events.
The Naturist Foundation Sauna Policy
- Showers must be taken before using the sauna.
- Always sit or lay on a towel in the sauna.
- Never use the sauna alone.
- Glass bottles, razors or other sharp items should not be taken into the sauna.
- Children aged 10 to 18 are permitted to use the sauna with adult supervision.
- The temperature of the sauna will be maintained between 80˚C and 90 ˚C. If you notice the temperature to be over 90 ˚C, then please report this to reception.
We recommend the following:
- Keep yourself rehydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Remove any metal jewellery that could become hot.
You are not permitted to use the sauna if you:
- Have a medical condition that is exacerbated through exposure to heat e.g. heart disease, high/low blood pressure, kidney disease. If you are not sure please consult your GP or health professional.
- Have any infectious skin diseases or wounds.
- Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Are clinically obese.
- Are pregnant.
- Are under 10 years of age
The Naturist Foundation’s acceptable internet use policy
All users must ensure that they:
- Use the internet in an acceptable way
- Do not create unnecessary business risk to the Foundation by their misuse of the internet
Unacceptable behaviour
In particular the following is deemed unacceptable use or behaviour by users:

o Visiting internet sites that contain obscene, hateful, pornographic or otherwise illegal material.
o Using the internet to perpetrate any form of fraud, or software film or music piracy.
o Using the internet to send offensive or harassing material to other users.
o Downloading commercial software or any copyrighted materials belonging to third parties, unless this download is covered or permitted under a commercial agreement or other such licence.
o Hacking into unauthorised areas,
o Publishing defamatory and/or knowingly false material about the Foundation, other Foundation members or staff, on social networking sites, blogs, wikis and any other online publishing format.
o Revealing confidential information about the Foundation, Foundation staff or members in a personal online posting, upload or transmission -including financial information and personal information.
o Undertaking deliberate activities that waste staff effort or networked resources.
o Introducing any form of malicious software into the Foundation’s network.
o Use of peer 2 peer (p2p) or Torrent (Bit Torrent) is strictly prohibited.
Misuse of this facility can have a negative impact upon other users and the reputation of the Foundation. The Foundation maintains the right to monitor the volume of internet and network traffic, together with the internet sites visited. Where it is believed that a user has failed to comply with this policy, they could face permanent exclusion from the Foundation’s internet connection and/or lose their membership.
The Naturist Foundation’s photography policy
The Naturist Foundation authorises individuals to take photographs at events held within the grounds. These individuals are identified by wearing an official photographer pass issued by The Naturist Foundation and they abide by strict rules respecting privacy. Unless within an area that clearly specifies ‘Photographs may be taken’, the consent of any person included in images taken by an official photographer will be obtained should that image be used for publicity purposes by The Naturist Foundation
Visitors do not have permission to take photographs or moving images on any device within the grounds of Brocken Hurst. The exception being photos taken at designated areas during events. Associate members may take photos within the grounds at Brocken Hurst with the consent of those captured but do not have permission to take photos within the public areas of Brocken Hurst (this includes inside all buildings). Please remember that many smart phones have wide angles that can capture people in the background unintentionally.
All members and visitors have an expectation that their privacy will be respected and many people may not want their image (whether clothed or not) taken and possibly shared on social media. Please be considerate at all times and be prepared to show the images you have taken to assure others that they have not been photographed on your device.
Copies of all images taken within the grounds of Brocken Hurst must be provided to an official of The Naturist Foundation if requested.
Smart glasses and drones are not permitted into The Naturist Foundation or airspace over the grounds at any time.
